Notebook Excerpt
‘repeating events’ is the first track in the album ‘the painting’ which was inspired by Edvard Munch’s ‘The Sick Child’. I was really fascinated by the fact that Munch made 6 versions of this painting and several lithographs. It was as if through each one he was reliving the scene, trying to capture the details perfectly. He often returned to favourite paintings and reproduced them in different media and I tried to show this repetition through the use of repeated patterns and notes throughout the album. ‘repeating events’ signifies not only the number of times Munch redid this particular painting but also how there were repeating events of tragedy in his life.
